This pairing in the 5524 Gallery at JAYJAY promises to be a knockout! Mark L. Emerson and Dean DeCocker make work that is perfectly complimentary in this new exhibit.

Emerson is a Sacramento favorite, and a master at making paint shift and vibrate in these new well-planned rectangles. This body of work is completely up tempo and energizing, as these smaller sized works confront us with superb color compositions which actually sing. Emerson received his MFA from UC Davis, and his work is found in collections locally, including the Crocker Museum; American River College; Sacramento City College; Kaiser Permanente; University California Davis Medical Center, among others.

Dean DeCocker, a brilliant sculptor who champions the modern in his elegant, funny, graceful, and streamline executions, returns to JAYJAY. You will see several wall-mounted architecturally constructed marvels, with some free-standing works as well. His work continues to reference the aeronautical in its modern sweeps and underlying structure. DeCocker received his MFA from Claremont Graduate University and is a professor of fine art at CSU Stanislaus. He has shown throughout California and Arizona and his work can be found in many private and public collections, including The Crocker Art Museum, Laguna Beach Museum, Robert Fullerton Art Museum, Orange County Museum, Newport Beach Museum, and the Riverside Art Museum, to name a few.
